Improve Credit Rating
A good credit score increases your chances of qualifying for a loan or mortgage so it is important to learn what affects it and how you can improve it if you have a bad score. Here are a few tips to help you get a better credit rating quickly:
- Keep your balances low
If you can get credit cards with high limits but only use ten to twenty percent of the limit at any point then this can be a really good way to increase your credit score.
- Look for mistakes in your credit report
The major credit rating agencies can often make mistakes when calculating your credit score. Be sure to check your reports often and report any errors or innacurate information in there as it can help to improve your rating.
- Do not settle for minimum monthly payments
In most cases paying just the minimum is not going to be enough for you to reduce your balance. If you can make additional payments then this will help to bring your balance down much faster and also will help to increase your credit rating.
- Do not carry too many cards
Ideally you only really need one or two cards as most places will accept either Visa or Mastercard. If you carry additional cards that you do not use then this will negatively impact your credit rating so only carry cards you use often.
- Pay on time
This is obvious but too many people end up making late payments or do not pay at all which is certainly going to lower your credit score. Follow some of these tips to help you get a better credit rating.
